UPDATE: Our outage yesterday was caused by a bug in our software. We paused the sending of all twitter messages. It is of utmost importance that we deliver messages reliably. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Steps we took:
1. Made the queue daemon fail more gracefully
2. Scripts which parse and email log information daily
3. Added information to the error logs

We ran a test for our URL shortener to see how well it really works. It was interesting to find out what the 1 millionth sequence of a-z,A-Z,0-9 characters were. Using a standard incremental algorithm starting at a-0 then aa-99 and so on, what would you say the 1 millionth sequence is?
